AMERICAN TOURISTS
TO VISIT DOMINION.
WELLINGTON, August 1
Sir Joseph Ward, Minister in charge of the Tourist Department, stated today that a letter had been received from the newly-appointed representative of the Tourist and "Railway Department in America, Mr Wheeler, manager of Pacific Tours, Ltd., San Francisco, that his firm arc already sending the following parties:—Party of twelve members, making a four of both islands, arriving in Wellington on 'December 16; party of eighteen members, making a tour- of tlie North Island,' arriving.on December 60. These parties, said Sir Joseph, would be met by an officer of the Tourist Department, and details of their tours arranged. Mr Wheeler’s eleventh escorted party would arrive on February 10. The party would consist fit thirty-six half of whom would tour both islands, and of the remainder some would do the North Island and some the South Island.
Mr Wheeler reported that he expected to be arranging for further parties leaving America'in November and December, and more to follow in January 'and.February.
