GREY DISTRICT RACING COMMITTEE

The monthly meeting of the Grey District Racing Committee was held at Greymouth yesterday. Present: Messrs H. F. Doogan, A. Beban, D. J. Evans, W. D. Gilbert, A. E. Kilgour, W. Parfitt and the Secretary, Mr M. J. Fogarty. ~, An application from R. Orange for a jockey’s license was recommended. A discussion arose with regard to uniformity of programmes for the midsummer meeting. It was suggested that each club endeavour to have the same clas of races, so that, the horses entering for one meeting would have similar faces to compete in at the other meetings, and thereby assure better fields. The Westland Racing Club. Ureymouth Jockey Club and Reefton Jockey Club will be asked to include a maiden race and a hack race on each >day during their midsummer meetings. The New Zealand Racing Conference advised that a provisional trainer’s license had been - granted E. Kingan, subject to his ■ reporting monthly the number of horses lie is training. A provisional license was also granted C. Walsh. L. Young’s application for a jockey’s license was not granted. Trainers licensed in the Greymouth . istrict are: D. S. Adamson, T. Donnellan, A. J. Griffin, E. Kingan (prov). Olsen, J. J. Shannahan, J. Stewart and C. Walsh (prov.) Jockeys licensed 'in the Greymouth district'arej V. A. Leo, J. E. Olsen and C. Walsh. The Licensing Committee have decided to impose a fine of £l. on applicants for a license for 1929-30 who have failed to make application to the District Committee in which they reside, not later than 31st May. The fine will not apply to new applications for license. The New Zealand Racing Conference advised that the following gentlemen had been elected as delegates to the Greymouth District Committee: D. .T. Evans, W. B. Gilbert, A. Kilgour, F. McGregor and E. McPndden.
