CASTLE BURNED. BALLYMENA, Co. Antrim, June 26. Glerarm Castle, the picturesque and stately residence of the. Earl and Countess of Antrim, at Grenarm, on tiie Antrim coast was destroyed by fire last night. [The fire was reported in the later editions of yesterday’s Daily Mail.) The Etvrl and Countess of Antrim are in London, and the castle had been lent to Mrs Ohioester, widow of Canon Ohinchester, a former Vicar of Dorking, Surrey, and a sister of Lord Ashcombe. Mrs Chieester had been staying at the castle for the last five weeks with her daughters and t\vo servants. Attention to the outbreak was first directed by a smell of burning wood in a small bedroom at the top of the east wing. The Larne fire brigade was called. and they saved the servant’s quarters in the south wing. Much valuable furniture and- many of the paintings, which included some Old -Masters, were saved. The castle was erected in 1799 by Anne Katherine Viscountess Dunlece, who was Countess of Antrim in her own riglit. «
