MAN’S CONFESSION. JOHANNESBURG, June 24. A young white man lias been arrested at Gwelo, Southern Rhodesia, in connection with the murder in November 1927 of Miss Irene Kantback, the 18-wears-old daughter of a South African official. Her body was found hidden in bushes on the outskirts of Johannesburg, after she had been missing for three days. •Some months ago a young woman said that a man courting her confessed to the crime and produced letters the authenticity of which the police disproved. Recently the girl, suffering from poison and believing herself to be dying, declared that her lover visited her on the night of the crime in blood-stained clothes, confessed to killing the girl, and swore her to secrecy. She is now recovering, but her statements, it is understood, contain significant inconsistencies.
