ENGLAND’S VICTORY. . ‘ ; <•„ LONDON, July 30. England’s victory in.the cricket rubber came after,.a stubborn defence, notably by Taylor and Cameron. The, pitch was lifeless. Freeman, only was a consistently .troublesome bowler, again, suggesting the poverty of the English attack. ~£>
Quinn batted n, hundred minutes, a fine feat for a man generally going in the tenth. 'He Helped to add fifty-three runs. 1 Taylor in the. fifties was missed by Geary. He went out to the. worst hall received, hitting a lull tosser to LeyInaff. His score included seven fours.
Morkel started uncomfortably
Owen-Smith just before going in received a cable announcing his father’s death. He was sympathetically cheered when he appeared. Cameron hit freely and Deane, who is usually impetuous,’ backed up steadily. " \ Rain caused a stoppage of play for an hour, after which the wet ball assisted the batsmen. Cameron skied an easy catch. He batted 125 minutes and bit one six and ten fours. 1
