I n the'dance hall women fainted, being suffocated by the thick smoke. Scarcely had the Ambassadors been emptied than crashed in. Amazing scenes were witnessed in the streets. Men carried out overwrought women. The damage is estimated at £IOO.OOO sterling and a block which was the most valuable in Sydney, at one time was threatened.
