DUNEDIN, July 30. A fully-loaded Peninsula motor service bus developed steering gear trouble on the narrow Lower Harbour road this morning, swerving over the bank into the harbour. It landed upright in shallow water, gradually turning over. The passengers, none of whom were seriously injured were able to get out through the door.

SUDDEN DEATH. GISBORNE, July 30. David Bertram Adair, aged 44, an orchardist, died suddenly early this morning after a brief illness. An inquest will he held. CAR DRIVER FINED. WELLINGTON, July 30. Fined £25 last July and having his license cancelled for a year, Lionel Lestrange Edwards, a solicitor, came before Mr Page S.M. to-day and pleaded guilty to being drunk in charge of a car yesterday, when he collided with a stationary motor car while proceeding home at 5 o’clock tp Island Bay. His Counsel (Mr Leicester) said he had two drinks after 4.30 while waiting for his car. Counsel remarked that a member of an honourable profession appearing before court twice on such a charge was more than a disgrace. It was a calamity when one realised the high position defendant’s father had held on the Bench of this country.

- Mr Page imposed a fine of £35 and suspended his license for three years.
