WESTLAND SUB-UNION. MONDAY, JULY 29th. The Sub-Union met at 8 p.m. Present: H. M. Coulson (chair), Cutbush, Dowell, Stafford, Williamson, McManaway, Breeze, Cooper McGregor, Adams, iHowat, McDonald and Heenan. SATURDAY’S GAMES. SENIOR. Excelsior v. United, Cass Square, 3 p.m. (Mr A. Cutbush). JUNIORS. Kiwi v. Rrmu at Rimu, 3 p.m. (Mr 1). Heenan). Excelsior v. Arahura at Arahura at 3 p.m. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Westport Old Boys asking that W.C.R.U. he requested to reconsider their refusal of a game.—Received; the request to be forwarded on. Reports on the junior and senior B representative games were received as satisfactory. It was resolved to write to Mr A. A. Adams expressing regret at his accident.
It was resolved to enquire what action the W.C.R.U. was taking in regard to Newman Shield rules. From Ross Club asking for date to be fixed for seven-aside tourney at Ross.—Received. August 17th was fixed, junior games on that day to be postponed. Nominations to close on August 12th with the Secretary of the Sub-Union, a sub-committee of three to control the tourney. It was resolved to supply each member with a subscription list for an injured player, to be returned on August 19th.
It was resolved to notify the W.G.R.U. that the Dittman Shield was considerably battered, and that some engraving was required thereon. The school team were granted permission to travel to Greymouth. Votes of thanks were passed to several for assistance rendered. Accounts as tdbled were passed for payment.
INJURED RUGBYITES. 'By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 27. In the senior Rugh.v match yesterday between Berhampore and We’lington, two players had ribs broken and one a broken lesr.' They were all members of the Wellington team.
NO MATCH WITH MAORIS. WELLINGTON, July 29. Mr McLeod, Manager of the All Blacks, has cabled: “Impracticable for team to play match with Maoris at Auckland, owing to the heavy casualties.” An endeavour is now being made to arrange a match Maoris versus Auckland. OTAGO B.H.S. BEAT CHRLST COLLEGE. CHRISTCHURCH, July 29. The Otago Boys’ High School beat Christ College by three points to nil. Rain fell throughout. Part of the ground was under water, and resembled a quagmire.
