The body of George William Rolfe, aged 64, sailmaker, was found in the Avon on Thursday night, near the madras Street Bridge.

’The body had apparently been in Idle water only a few hours. An inquest will be held to-morrow.

The Full Court delivered judgment in lie case of Butt and others, this afternoon, holding that the appeal should be allowed, and a writ of certiorari asked for oy appellants granted. The written judgment of,Chief Justice Myers, Judges Herdman, Adams, Blair and Smith, was delivered by the Court, all holding that the Court of Arbitration had gone beyond its jurisdiction, when altering the Award by the order complained of. Accordingly the whole order was squashed, but without any order as to costs. FILM AFIRE IN INVERCARGILL THEATRE. INVERCARGILL, July 26. Some excitement was caused at the Majestic Theatre this evening when an outbreak of fire occurred in the operating box, through a fuse blowing out and igniting a small piece of film. The theatre was rapidly cleared and there was no panic whatever. The outbreak was soon suppressed by chemical extinguishers, and it is stated the damage was very slight. Immediately afterwards the people returned to the theatre, and the programme was resumed. A RECORD PAY-OUT. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 25. The average pay-out. for the past season of 22.37 d is claimed by the Wai toitoi Co-operative Daily Company as a Dominion record. The season’s make about 300 tons of cheese, was sold at 9gd per pound. POST AND TELEGRAPH REVENUE. WELLINGTON, July 25. The Post Office quarterly returns published in the “Gazette” to-night show that the total postal revenue for the second quarter ending June 30th. 1929 was £386,084 as against £401,031 for the corresponding period of the prevoius year. The total telegraphic revenue for the same quarter this year was £560,139, compared with £525,522 for the same period in 1928.
