WOMAN’S LOVE LETTERS.
BERLIN, June 16. Herr Louis Adlon, proprietor of the well-known Hotel Action, appeared before the court to-day in an unusual ease. / Frau Adler Anderson had for a long time been on friendly terms with the Adlon family and had her letters addressed to the hotel. Because Herr Adlon had, as she maintained, unwarrantedly opened two letters addressed to her at the Hotel Adlon she claimed that he should be punished and that she should be compensated. Both these epistles were love-letters addressed to Frau Anderson, who asserted that Herr Adlon had opened them intentionally.
The presiding magistrate suggested that the parties should come to an amicable 'settlement, whereupon Herr Adlon declared that in hurriedly going through his mail he had opened these letters without noticing that they were not addressed to him, and he disclaimed having done so intentionally. He apologised, and offered to pay the expenses of the trial and Frau Andersen’s expenses in bringing the action. These declarations were accepted by Frau Andersen and her counsel.
