THEFT CHARGE. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] •WELLINGTON, July 25. Walter Whitehouse, aged 59, a clerk, was remanded at the Magistrate’s Court to-day charged with failing to account for £OSB to his employers, Te Aro Loan aiid Discount and Investment Coy. Bail was allowed. INQUEST PROCEEDINGS. PALMERSTON N.. July 25. Admitted to Palmerston North Hospital from Otaki in a. critical condition on Monday, the death occurred early yesterday, of Eileen McJnnos, a domestic aged 22 years. After evidence of identification had been taken this morning, ( the inquest was adjourned until Thursday next, i when medical evidence, it is understood, will occupy tne bulk of the hearing.
FRUITGROWERS PROTEST. HASTINGS, July 25. At a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Fruit Growers’ Association yesterday members expressed themselves in indignant terms regarding the press propaganda of the 1928 Committee and the following resolution was unanimously adopted: That members off the Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers’ Association view with the,igravest ...displeasure the attempts, of the 1928'Committee to undermine the..operations of the New Zea!and Fruit Export Control Board, by misleading innuendoes and half truths. By their unanimity at the recent Dominion Conference, growers throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand expressed with Ino uncertain voice, a. determination to' stand behind the Board in its policy of directing marketing of New Zealand exported .fruit. Hawke’s Bay growers again 1 ,’desire to express their loyalty to the Board and their determination to do all in their power to support it.
