DRUNKEN DRIVER
MAGISTRATE’S. LENIENCY, i Bv Telegraph—Per Press Association:) INVERCARGILL, July 24. In the Police Court to-day, Thomas Alexander Agnew was convicted of having been intoxicated while in charge of a car. Tiie Magistrate said that if accused would take out a prohibition order, lie would be fined £5 ; but if not, be would lie fined £25. Accused’s current license would be cancelled, and no license would be issued to him for the following year. Agnew appeared before **Pistices of the Peace on-the same charge last week*, but the information was dismissed, without prejudice, on the grounds that the police had not proved thencase, through failing to call the person who advised them of accused’s condition. Senior-Sergeant Fox explained to-day that the person who telephoned the police had not disclosed his or her name.
