SYDNEY PRICES HIGH. (Australian Press Association)

i! SYDNEY,"' July 23." / The Housewives’ Progressive ' Association . instituted a boycott - against potatoes as a protest against the prevailing high prices; but, though the demand to-day in consequence shows a slackening, the price remains at £2O per ton. A year ago the supplies here were but little more than they are at present, and the price was only about £7 per ton. To-day it is reported that one Sussex St. buyer paid £2l 10s per ton for a line of one thousand bags of Tasmanian Urownells, and a further soaiing'of prices is forecasted. This is attributed to speculative purchases of potatoes.
