LAND PURCHASES. WELLINGTON, July 24. Air Forbes in an interview to-day replied to a newspaper statement that no properties with the exception of one had (been acquired •by the Ward Government. To date eleven properties totalling 1,1,357 acres had been acquired by tagredment purchase at £314,399 with delivery at specified dates. Obviously the Government desired the offer of properties for selection and delivery at suitable reasonable periods and arrangements were being made for ballots to take place, some threo unonths before the actual delivery. The Department had arranged with several vendors to allow building material, etc., to be brought into the several are: us by successful applicants, soon after each ballot, also for the prosecution of necessary road formation. Mr Forbes also mentioned the Land Purchase Board was negotiating for further properties.
