HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

At a special meeting of the Hokitika School Committee held on Tuesday evening, Mr Armstrong (Chairman) presiding, stated they had met to consider the proposed excursion next month. It was stated that any children wishing to make the trip would be accommodated free in Christchurch. Mr Partridge (Rector) said it would be an education to the scholais and lie would not oppose any loss of the school term. Mr Pedder moved that the Committee associate with the Progress League to promote the trip to Christclniicli. This was seconded by the Chairman and carried. Mr Sweney moved that the school close for the usual holidays on August 23rd. Seconded by Air Pedder and carried. Mr Shannon moved that each Committee make their own arrangements re the excursion. Seconded by Mr Richards and carried. It was resolved that the Chairman and Mr Sweney represent the Committee at the meeting of the General Committee.
