HERD-TESTING
ORGANISATION OF WORK. WELLINGTON, July 19. At the first meeting of the Hen Testing Central Executive, a body o eight members recently set up by tli Minister of Agriculture, Mr Fulton, c Hamilton, presided. It was considered desirable to ai point a capable organiser whose dutii would not only include organisatic work but would also operate in tl: direction of assisting to maintain here testing work on an efficient basis. J was agreed that this officer should 1. appointed by the New Zealand Her testing Federation, and that it be recommendation to the Governmer. that .a grant be made in connectio with the necessary expenses. The executive also resolved tha while recommending that the herd-tes ing movement should continue to b fostered by Government assistance i the lorm of an annual subsidy or gran: its aim should be the bringing abov of conditions which would enable tli movement to bio self-supporting. As regards the payment of last sea son’s subsidy, the Department advise that the necessary declarations liac now been sent out, and as soon a. tnose were received back in prope order the money could be paid out. Permission has been granted, wlior circumstances render such action necei sary, for associations to utilise the cas’ for current expenses, so long as it i passed on to members not later that October 20., It is anticipated that the establish ment of this representative body, a members of which take a keen iuteres in herd-testing, will be of great vainin consolidating and furthering this very important movement.
