AN ALL-EMPIRE SCHEME.
LONDON, May 21. British and Dominions, which recently entered into an agreement with His Master's Voice, announces a gigantic scheme for the production 'of talking pictures throughout the British Empire. Production units are to be established in Australia, '“’outh Africa, Canada, and India. These
with the studios now being eompleied at Eistree, will form a complete Empire chain of talking-picture production centres.
The first, picture to be made under this scheme will be “The'Trail of the Southern;. Cross,” a romantic history, of Australia, planned on a vast scale, and having its climax in the heroic part Australia piayed at Gallipoli, The Australian authorities have o n sented to co-operate in, the produce tion. •
Meanwhile, another talking film will 'be in preparation in Canada, ,ieealling Wolfe’s -storming of the plains of Abraham, and then developing the romance of the great lumber trade. South Africa will bo represented with a talking film setting out the romance of the great diamond mines and the -unforgettable story of Cecil Rhodes.
“Taj Mahal” is to be the title of an Indian film, which may be produced in colour as well as sound. Ex ceptional facilities for its production have been promised by an Indian potentate that it may show to the world the infinite splendour and pageantry of the vast Indian Empire.
