It will consume upwards of seven hundred tons of coal dailyThe extract from the coal, used will, be twenty million cubic feet of gas, twenty .thousand gallons of oil, and four hundred and fifty tons of smokeless fuel. The promoters say that this may make Glasgow into Britain’s first smokeless city. BRITISH COTTON CRISIS. LONDON, July 19. The Conference of Cotton Masters and Workmen, at Manchester, resulted in a complete deadlock. Notices will expire on July 27th. when half a million will be rendered idle.
