The Council of the:Association, ..s Che outcome ol lengthy negotiations, with the North Island Motor Union Mutual Insurance Company, has adopted that company’s motor-car insurance policy as the official policy of the Association, and in consequence three months’ notice df the termination of the existing arrangement with Lloyd’s underwriters has been given to the New Zealand agents.

ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE. ' CHRISTCHURCH, July 18. A charge of robbery with ‘ personal violence was preferred against John Henry Percival Hagarty, aged 28, before Mr Lcvvy, S.M., to-day. Hagarty was charged that on July oth. 1929, he robbed David Hamilton Weir -urry of a watch and chain valued at £l7 10s and three pounds in money, and that immediately before lie used personal violence towards Curry. The Crown evidence was that Curry, a farmer from Alcaroa went for a walk with a friend on the evening of July sth. and was struck on tho head and rendered unconscious and robbed of a watch find money. Next evening, it was alleged, accused was arrested for drunkenness and the watch and chain were found in his possession. It was also alleged that when arrested accused tried to throw away the watch and chain. Hagarty pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial.
