At Armidalo to-day, superior combination and condition enabled the All Blacks to triumph over the Combined Country team. The weather was delightful. The game was played in the presence of six thousand spectators, drawn from, many miles. Disappointment was felt at the nonappearance of Porter and Nepia. Nepia was admitted to the Armidale Hospital to-day, suffering from influenza. The Country team were without their spjetly full-back, O’Connor, who had unfortunately gashed his leg with an axe. All Blacks: Carleton; Gecldes, String follow, Waterman; Hook, ami Oundy; Leys; CotteroU, Souter, Palmer, Mahoney, Sontagg,. Kivell, Rika, Reside. N.S.Vy. Country: Nelson; Eberl, O’Shannessy, Boeitlnvick, Smith: Wearner; Croft; Ireland, Dclbndge, Munsie, Lamb, Richardson, Davidson, Britton, Lay cock. The Country team won the toss and the All Blacks had to play with the sun in their faces. The home team attacked, and they kept the visitors defending for the first few minutes, till Stringfellow secured the ball aim passed to Leys, who sent it back to Hook. The latter passed back to Stringfellow, who crossed the line in a handy position. Oundy added the extra points. N.Z. 5; Country 0. The Country team again pressed hard, and Ebert intercepted a New Zealand pass smartly, but a serum followed for a ‘knock-on. A penalty to -the home side, however, gave Ebert a chance to goal, amidst much applause. N.Z. 5; Country 3. A few minutes later, Gundy initiated a great movement, the ball passing to Stringfellow, to Cotterell and across the field to Rika and thence to Reside, but the latter knocked on when a -try was within his grasp. The home forwards were now putting and their handling of the hall improved as the game progressed. The next score to the All Blacks -amc from a passing movement in which Cotterell,. Hook, Stringfellow and Oundy participated, the latter just scrambling over at the corner. His kick at goal failed. N.Z. 8; Country 3.

Hook, who was playing a brilliant game, was responsible for the next score. When he was going for the line, he was brought down, but he managed to transfer to Geddes, who outpaced the field and crossed. Gundy kicked a great goal. N.Z 1 . 19; Country 8. The crowd was thrilled by the handling of the All Blacks and when .Sonta&g secured and passed to Gundy, and the ball went to Hook, to Stringfellow, and on to Waterman who scored near the posts the incident fairly brought down the stand. In the Rugby match to-day, Wairarapa defeated Manaw-henua by 12 to 10. Tlie half time score w-as ten to nil in favour of Maiiawhcnua. It was a match of halves, Mill doing brilliant work for Wairarapa in the second half The Shield holders pushed tlie game out of the fire when the w hole 'back line handled to score the winning try in the last minute. Dalziell and Boldt scored, Fletcher and Tata na converting respectively for Manaw-henua. Wairarapa’s score comprised tries by Dime, M. Willoughby, ' and Burgess and Fuller kicked a penalty. The match was played on a drying ground.
