MOSTLY ERROR
[By Telegraph, Per Press Association^] AUCKLAND, July 12. Similarity in the appearance of some of our bank notes caused some tribulation in Auckland, when one of the icoloured members .'of the Kentucky Jubilee Singers, freshly arrived from America, paid out a couple of National Bank of New Zealand £lO notes to pay for something that cost less than £l, mistaking them, in his ignorance of our money, for ten shilling notes. The man was a bio to locate the Queen St. .shop where lie made his purchase, but on inquiry being made about the notes said to have been paid in there was “nothing doing.” As a matter of fact, the two notes are not unlike. The ton shilling notes of all local banks are printed in light orang'd-brown ink on white paper, whilst the National Bank’s £lO note is similar in size and is also printed -in brown ink of a darker shade, but with this important difference, that it lias the word “ten” in large block letters printed in green-coloured ink across the middle. It is suggested that if “ten” had been made “ten pounds” even the stranger within our gates could not he misled.
