EMDEN’S DEPARTURE

captain’s Tribute.' ' 1 [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, July 12. Captain von Arnauld, of the cruiser Emden, to-day expressed his great regret that- their stay had come to an end. He was deeply impressed, he said, with the reception and‘welcome received hotli in Auckland and Wellington, and he much regretted that the official programme of the tour prevented a visit to the South Island.

Captain Yon Arnauld said that he felt sure that the visit of the Emden had helped to clear away misconception, and to establish a spirit of friendliness. He hopes soon to be able to reply to the many hundreds of letters received by him from all New Zealand, of goodwill-and friendship.
