WELLINGTON, July 12. 'Hie House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. The Swamp Drainage Amendment Bill (Mr FI. M. Rushworth) was introduced and read a first time. Mr Smith presented the report of the Standing Orders Committee, recommending, inter alia, sittings on Tuesday to Thursday from 2.30 to 10.30 p.m.; on Friday 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Sir Joseph Ward said the report would he dealt with immediately after the Address-in-Reply debate. The Address-in-Reply debate was continued by Eton. P. A. de la Penelle, Messrs F. Waite, Clinkard. and M. J. Savage (who appealed Tor the termination of the debate to give the House an opportunity to consider immediately urgent legislation), H. Holland (Christchurch North), McDougall and Hon. Stallworthy. The House rose at 10.58 p.m.
