WEDDING BELLS

MoLEAN-BENNETT. A popular and pretty wedding took place at the Church of the Resurrection, Cobden, yesterday afternoon, when Eileen Valentine, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. T. Bennett, " was 'united in holy . matrimony; to Joiiri Thomas Dalton McLean, engineer of the s.s. Gael, Hokitika. The Rev. W. 'Bell officciated at the ' Church, which was prettily decorated by the lady friends of the bride. The decorations included a huge wedAding bell. The service was a fully choral one, the bride having been organist arid Sunday School teacher for a number of years. The wedding march was played by Miss Barrett, of Cobden.

The bride, who entered the Church on the arm of her was daintily attired in white celanese satin with an overdress of radium lace, trimmed with brilliant buckle and pearls and wore the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a shower bou- . qtlet. Miss Eva Bennett, dressed in apricot celanese satin trimmed with lace, and Miss Christina McLean, sister of the bridegroom, attired in cyclamen celanese satin, attended the bride as bridesmaids. Miss Edna Bennett acted as flower girl and wore a blue crepe-de-chine dress. • Mr Thomas Tarrant, of Cobden, was 'best man, and Mr M. Bennett acted as groomsman. The bride’s mother wore a navy blue costume with hat to match. After the ceremony the bride’s parents entertained the numerous guests at barker’s tea rooms, Greymouth. The happy couple afterwards left for the North-Island to spend their honeymoon. The' bride’s travelling \ dress was fawn tweed with hat to match and fox fur. Their future home will be at Hokitika. The wedding presents were costly and included a number of cheques, which showed the popularity of the happy couple.
