Canterbury Automobile Association
TUESDAY, JULY 9th., 1929. The ordinary meeting of the Westland Branch of the above-named association was held at 7.30 p.m. Present : Messrs D. P. Stuart (President, in the chair), Jas. King, T. W. Duff, R. Appleton, Dr Teichelmann, W. E. Richards (hon. sec.). The Canterbury Association wrote stating that £SO had been voted to sufferers in the earthquakes and expressing sympathy with sufferers.. A letter was received from the Town Clerk, Hokitika, stating that none of the Borough Reserves were suitable for a camping ground for motorists and suggesting that the Racing Club be approached for the use of the racecourse. On the motion of Mr Duff, seconded by Dr Teichelmann, it was resolved to ask the Racing Club to meet the local Committee of the Automobile Association and discuss the matter.
The General Secretary, Christchurch, wrote stating-that the request to have three miles of road made between the Glacier Hotel and Franz Josef Glacier would be urged by -the Association. From the General Secretary forwarding a full list of members and their arrears and asking that all subscriptions be paid to the local secretary, Mr W. E. Richards. It was resolved that a circular be sent to all members with subscriptions outstanding. Accounts amounting to £3 7s 6d were passed for payment.
