STRENGTHENING OF WHARVES.
■ AGAINST EARTHQUAKE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 10. The Harbour Board Engineer (Mr Holdernes) submitted to the Board proposal!? for (the strengthening of Princess, Queen’s and King’s wharves against earthquakes at ail estimated cost of £SOOO. Wharves built up to 1925 have no structural provision against earthquakes, but those built later are strengthened against lateral strength. The report was referred to the Board in committee, several members remarking that the matter was most important and should. be dealt with without delay.
