' • ' The recommendations of the Na- 1 tional Transport Advsiory Council wmch met recently in Wellington, have- , been submitted to the Government -f and it is understood that they will •bd’ incorporated in a Transport Bill now in progress of drafting. This measure , will be one of the most important^> the session, and should make a fairly early appearance, as it is understood - : that the Government has gone very "■ thoroughly into the whole question and has followed a plan enunciated by the Prime Minister and subsequently , amplified by the Hon. W. A. Veitch', Minister of-Transport. .v - This is that all legislation relating to control of motor traffic, including . the financial side and the main high-, ways scheme, will be covered by one statute. This means that the interest- A ing development of the separation of the North Island from the South Island in Highway Board matters, by setting up a South Island Highways Board,. . will be a feature of the coming Bill. “’ J The Motor Omnibus Act is to be re- : pealed and its provisions, with aiiy amendments deemed necessary, will be y included in the Transport Bill. r-.VA
