FORTY MILLIONS
FOR LONDON SUBWAY. (United Press Association.—ByElectrio Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, July 9. Rt. Hon. J. H. Thomas (Minister for Unemployment), is considering a forty million sterling .scheme, sponsored by Viscount Elibank, for the construction of a seventy-five mile London underground goods railway, providing work for sixty thousand men for four years. Lord Elibank claims that the scheme would solve London’s street traffic problem. It would link up the wharves wi>th the railway stations and the West End stores. It would have fifty-four stations.
