BEAUTY IN WOMEN
PRESENT-DAY SUPERIORITY
LONDON, June 19. “Women are more beautiful, to-day .nan during any former epoch, not ex- . luding the Greek era. Not only are .ney more beautiful, but beauty lasts l-jiiger, namely 35 years, whereas only as recently as last century women . ould not hope to keep their charm and beauty for more than 20 years. This according to the Paris correspondent of the Daily News, is the conclusion reached by M. Gustav Brisgand, the well-known portrait painter, and M. Marcel Barriere, an authority on aesthetics, after many years of study of different types of feminine beauty in every European capital and in the United States. Englishwomen furnished most examples of what is called the aristocratic type; Italy the most graceful figures; and Germany the finest complexions. ‘‘We are convinced, however, that as in the past, so to-day, the ‘peakpoint’ of feminine beauty is between the ages of 25 and 30.” The authorities attribute woman’s enhanced and more lasting beauty to field sports and a deeper knowledge of the principles of good health.
