At Hamilton, Ontario, tlie OxfordCambridge track and field athletic team opened its invasion of this coniineiit with a seven to five win out of a total of twelve points against the Hamilton Olympic Club. OxfordCambridge won the 120 yards high hurdles, running Ibroad jump, putting the shot, two mile ruii, 220 yards low hurdles, 440 yards, also tlie running high jump, while Hamilton won the 101) yards, 220 yards, 880. yards, one mile and pole vault.

Phil Edwards and Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Olympic stars, each won two events for Hamilton. Tlie attendance numbered six thousand.

The Oxford-Cam.bridge team registered their first win in the fourth event, namely 120 yards high hurdles, when Mann dashed home a yard ahead of bis team mate, Harper, of Oxford, in 15 4-oseconds. Mann took command from the start and his beautiful action earned the plaudits of the crowd. 'Two Hamilton competitors never had a look in. Phil Edwards (Canada’s Olympic runner from West Indies)'was "the cynosure of all. eyes in the half mile which he won for Hamilton with delightful ease. Hampson, of Oxford, Mason of Cambridge and Wentworth of Oxford, finished behind him ,in the order named. Wentworth, who aroused some curiosity with his upright start, began well bqt dropped behind after being, at ,the (first turn. Johnny Fitzpatrick l (Canadian Olympic runner) won both the century dash and 220 yards for Hamilton. Leightwood, of Oxford, and the Varsity’s captain finished second in the latter event.

Humphrey, of Oxford, broke a Canadian record of twenty years standing in the two mile run, which he accomplished in nine minutes thirty-three and two-fiftlis seconds, the previous high mark being 9.34 3-5 seconds. Humphrey’s finished the last half lap with remarkable speed, bringing the crowd to its feet. Young, of Cambridge, dropped out at five six inches in,the running high jump.
