A DAILY MESSAGE
AN ASPIRATION Awaken within me a great'understanding, a great truth, and a great trust. Keep me from growing small, mean, and hitter. Help me to vanquish the many weaknesses of which 1 am so conscious. Give me strength to cast out for ever the doubts which assail my peace. Teach me to be always.kind, and to know that kindness in giving is not so great as kindness in feeling, thinking, and judging. Make me realize that, when I have nothing else to give, there is still myself, and that besides the gift of one’s self all other gift’s are mean. Make me able and willing to lend the helping hand. Make me merciful and generous in my judgment of others. Help me ever to remember that even my enemy is still mv fellowman; that within me lies as much of human frailty as in him; that u.\ hand raised against him unjustly is raised against myself. Let no L hought ol mine go forth on an errand of destruction. No, not even to my enemy. Help me to realize that the forces I set in n otion each morning return to me each night. —M. PRESTON STANLEY.
