MELBOURNE, July 5. Playing almost faultless billiards, Lindrum further increased his lead over Smith. The former ran together a break of 687 in 24min. 25sec. Scores: Lindrum (playing) 8527 with breaks of 687, 565, 442, 458. Smith 7195 with breaks of 432, 410, 471 and 403. BILLIARDS RECORDS. (Received this day at 11.25. a.m.) LONDON, July 4. The Billiards Control Council has issued record certificates for the season to Walter Liftdrum 1416 (against McConachy Ist. Dec. 1928, described as a world’s record); to Newman, 1231 (against Smith, 19th. Nov. 1928, an English record). There is no reference to Smith’s 21-±i> against Newman on 14th. Dec. 1928, apparently because no application has been made on its behalf.
