EXHIBITION OF THEIR IN VJSNTIONS. FLORENCE, May 16. The Historical Exhibition of Italian .Science, opened by King Victor Emmanuel, covers a wide range, and has taken five years to prepare. Its object is to illustrate the vast wealth of scienlihc material existing all over Italy ami to prove that most oi the wonders of applied science owe their u. ig.ii to Italian genius. In the Florence section wo have the thermometer, ihvented by Galileo in 1602; his pendulum and the famous little telescope covered with faded rod leather which lie invented at Venice in 1609. With it be discovered .Jupiter’s moons. Even more interesting is the exhibit of about a dozen exquisite little models (made expressly for this exhibition), illustrating Leonardo de Vinci’s theories, on .human flight which lie elaborated from studying the flight and structure of birds. The Bolonga section contains records of Galvani’s experiments In animal magnetism. The Ministry of Coinmunieatons exhibit starts with the germ of modern electricity, Vita’s “pile” and follows with all the developments of telegraphy and telephony that have since taken place. Here is. the Pantograph for the telegraphic transmission of pictures invented in 1856 by the Sienese scientist, Giovanni Caselli.
