MAGISTRATE’S COURT

THURSDAY, JULY 4th.

(Before W. Meld rum, Esq., S.M.) A CHARGE DISMISSED. The police charged Charles Harding (Mr Murdoch) with supplying liquor to two prohibited persons. A plea of not guilty was entered. Constable Best gave evidence of seeing Harding on the wharf with two prohibited persons) He had two bottles that had contained liquor and had just lately been emptied. The three men were somewhat under the influence of liquor. Charles Harding gave evidence that he did not see Wood on the afternoon of the 17th. He saw Constable Best that afternoon. He had just come along the street and saw two empty bottles. He picked them up to take home. The constable did not even look at the bottles. He did not assist either of the two prohibited men to liquor. He did not see either of the men that afternoon. Witness had been collecting bottles for the past twelve months. The Magistrate said the conditions were suspicious, but there was no direct evidence of liquor being supplied. The charge would be dismissed. APPLICATION FOR, SEPARATION. An application for a separation order and maintenance of one child and herself was made by a wife against her .husband.. His Worship granted the separation order, with maintenance of 29s per week for wife. / OTHER BUSINESS. All other Business set down was either struck out or adjourned till next sitting. ■
