A POLITICALLY NEUTRAL “We are strictly neutral in politics,” said First-Lieutenant Krauss on board the German cruiser Em’den at Auckland on Wednesday, when asked whether his ship was likely to observe the German national ;day of mourning that day, which was the tenth anniversary- of the (signing of |thel Treaty to Versailles. “No German*/> officer, soldier or sailor, has a right to > vote,” said Lieut. Krauss, “nor caliche take part in any political. movement or organisation.” The lieutenant added tliat in Germany all societies of that nature were declared “politi-• cal” by the War Minister and to the men of the army and navy.
