p.m. The Address-in-Reply was moved b> Hon. Gow and seconded by Hon Hawke. The Council adjourned at p.m. till 2.30 to-morrow.
THE HOUSE. ; In the House of Representatives the following hills were introduced an read a first time:-r-Evidence Amendment Rill (Mr H. G R. Mason). Rent Restriction Continuance Bill (Mr P. Fraser). Shops and Offices Amendment Ril’ (Mr It. McKeen). Sir Joseph Ward moved the usua 1 resolutions of sympathy with the fo! lowing ex-members who had passed away during the recess —Mr H. W Urn, Sir Douglas McLean, Sir JamesWilson, and Mr Joseph Hatch. Hon. J. G. Coates seconded the mo tions, which were supported by Messrs M. J. Savage and E. J. Howard oi behalf of the Labour Party and other members of the House and then wen unanimously adopted. The House rose at 4.30 p.m. adjourn ing till 7.30 p.m. to-morrow as a marl: of respect.
