RAILWAYMAN KILLED

DUNEDIN, July 2. A middle-aged man, Arhibald John Shepherd, married; residing at 11 Dacre Street, Oaversliam, was killed in the railway yard this afternoon. He was employed in the goods foreman’s department' and had finished work, when a line of eight cars was 4 being shunted into the north end station. Hfe attempted to board the nearest car, but slipped; and the whole eight, passed over him, cutting him to pieces.

A HOSPITAL SUICIDE. . MASTERTON, July 2. An inquest on David Ogilvy, a wellknown Masterton , business man, who was found dead in a bath in Glenwood Private Hospital this morning, with his throat cut, was held this afternoon, before Mr J. Miller, S.M. A verdict of suicide was returned,* the Coroner commenting that it was one of those unaccountably sad things that happen. The evidence showed that deceased had never given any indication of committing suicide.
