WOOL INDUSTRY/ (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, June 29. Speaking at an official luncheon at the sheep show at Sydney, Mr S. M. Bruce emphasised the seriousness of the competition of artificial silk with the wool industry, which would be greatly reflected in the economic position, as it would become more and more intense. The cost of production must come down and scientific research must be applied. The Government were prepared to assist in this direction, firstly directing efforts to sheep health problems. WOOL PRICES. ADELAIDE, June 29. Values at to-day’s wool sales were fifteen per cent below the rates ruling in April. AN APPEAL DECISION.. MELBOURNE, June 29. Justice McArthur has found in favour of the British Australasian Wool Realisation Association (Bawra) on on appeal by the Association against taxation assessments for years 192223 to 1927-28, inclusive. The sum involved is approximately £165,860
sterling. Justice McArthur also found in favour of Sir John Higgins, who as trustee, appealed against his assessment in respect to a three years claim.
