WOMAN BROKER FALLS. NEW YORK, May 4. Miss Clara Goldhurst, the most interesting character in Wall-street ol recent years, has been put out ol business by the State Attorney-General. He has announced that Wall-streets first “nut ami call’’ woman broker has admitted insolvency with liabilities of £20,o;:o. The great bull market in such issues as Montgomery, Ward, Chrysler, and United States Steel ruined a woman who once had a prosperous business employing a large staff of stalisticions and writers on the market. Miss Goldlnirst used to sell options on the best class of securities, for which she received prices varying from £2O to £25. About a month ago complaints were made by customers that they could not obtain the stock they had bought nor the money which represented profits. Miss Goldlnirst admitted that she never had the shares or the stock on which she sold options, and the hull market found her short of all the securities she had agreed to deliver. She pleaded, however, that since November she had reduced her liabilities by half.
