An inquiry as to whether there were any Newfoundland or St. Bernard pupies in New Zealand was received by the town clerk of Christchurch (Mr J. S. Novin) the other day from a New South Wales dog lover. The letter was referred to the president of the Canterbury Kennel Club Mr W. C. Leversedge), who remembers when both breods drew good entries at the shows of 30 to 40 years ago. It is many years since a Newfoundland or St. Bernard was benched at a show in New Zealand, and it would appear that the inquirer’s only chance of getting one would be to import one from England.
