On Friday night the promises of G. W. Moss and Coy iR Mack ay Street, were entered. Every lock inside the establishment was forced, but the would-be thief got little or nothing for his pains, as nothing was missed next day, except possibly two or three shillings. The firm make it a practice in baitk every day, and also t.avc m. a..gements to remove any ciasli not banked to'safety, so that lu.cturiial visitors in quest of money can - 1 ' e f noaiing there. One screw of the safe, was loosened hut, as already stated nothing was secured, except the couple or three shillings that were missed. On Saturday night, somebody in quest of cash gained an entry through a window at the rear of the office to the premises of Mr F. W. Wise, indent agent, in Albert Street. Here nothing was secured, and the next place to receive attention was the office of Mr E. R. Brown, commission agent. This also proved a bootless exploit. The office of Messrs Saunders and James nearby, were also giv-» en attention, and here petty cash to the amount of £1 13s was secured, hut nothing else was missed.
