Free trade within the Empire is reported to be the answer of the Canadian Liberal Government to the repeated tariff .increases made in the United States and to the charge by the Canadian Tories that Canada is accepting U.S.A. discriminatory tariffs without retaliation. 11 is understood that it is contemplated that the Canadian General Election df 1931 shall be fought on the question of Imperial preference, and that Canadians are to ho encourage' 1 to buy within the Empire rather than in tho United States, before tjie election. Certain Cabinet changes are forecasted for the first time. A member of the United Farmers’ Group at Alberta and a Saskatchewan Progressive will he brought in. The Minister ot Immigration may go to the Senate,and be succeeded by Mr T. A. Crerar. former Lender of the Farmer Group. Parliament is being prorogued on Tuesday afternoon.
