HOTEL FIRE TRAGEDY

THE REASON WHY. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 16. The reason why Miss, Sadie Lynch a victim of the Hotel Cargen fire tragedy, rushed back to her bedroom after the alarm of fire was given is probably accounted for by the fact that she had a large sum of money in her bedroom. This has been established as the result of a. search of the late Miss Lynch’s room since the fire. This revealed -a cheque for two' thousand pounds, which Miss Lynch had drawn the previous day in her own name, and also between two hundred and three hundred pounds in notes. It is understood that this is not the total of 'Miss Lynch’s savings, and that she had. accumulated a considerable sum. • Miss Lvneh had been head waitress at the Hotel Cargen for eighteen months, and prior to that she had held a similar position at the Grand Hotel for seventeen years.
