Tlie state of the parties at four o’clock was: South African Party 42 Nationalists 18 Cresswellitcs 5 Councilites 3 Allowing for doubtful constituencies the Pact is assured of a majority of about twenty. Johannesburg North was won by the South African Party by one vote. Air Jansen (Speaker) was returned Smuts. Hertzog, Havenga (Finance) and Kemp (Agriculture) were also elected.
