LE AGUE ASSEMBLY
INCREASING INTEREST. DUE TO NEW GOVERNMENT ATTITUDE, (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 10.80. a.m.). LONDON, June 11. There are already indications that the League Assembly at Geneva en 2nd September will he of absorbing interest. The mere fact that Mr MacDonald is going, in addition to, Mr Henderson, whose chief platform is world pacification, indicates that disarmament is going to be a big subject. A well informed observer told the Australian Press Association that Britain was going to make a strong effort to extricate the subject from tho realm of academic discussion, and get something practical done. In this respect Mr MacDonald would have strong support from the smaller States, which last year vainly tried j to have a definite date fixed for a world disarmament conference. The correspondent notes the undercurrent of German anticipation that tilings are going to be accelerated, likewise some anxiety in France that the Assembly may mistakenly take the bit in its teeth. Profound interest w'ill attach to the policy of tho British Empire bloc, especially in light of the protocol that blunders narrowly averted in 1924.
