DUNEDIN, June 10

There have recently beeii mining developments df some interest on the property of the Golden Progress Quartz .Ruling Company, at Oturehua, Central Otago. After some preliminary prospecting a shaft was sunk, and several drives .were opened out for the purpose of obtaining samples df the stone. Four parcels of these were forwarded for assay, and tbe results are said to have delighted those interested in the venture, all of whom are residents df the district. In the meantime a syndicate has made an offer fori the proposition, but the original shareholders will probably decide to provide the working capital themselves by the issue of preference shares.
