NEW INSTALLATION

SHORT WAVE LENGTH. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Juno 11. Hon Donald, Postmaster-General, states the Department recently ordered from Sydney, a modern short wave transmitting and receiving plant for erection at O.L.W. Morse Station, Wellington. The new plant will render obselletc the high power spark stations at Awauui and Awarua, and will effect a considerable annual saving. The- transmitter will he used primarily for communicating with Samoa, Raratonga, Tonga etc., but will afford emergency communication with Australia and with short wave stations in United Kingdom during certain hours of the day.
