INNOVATION AT CHRISTCHURCH. ,(By .Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, June 10. The Christchurch City Council tonight agreed to the following motion proposed by Cr Armstrong: .“That i v a representative of the workers’ employed in the departments under-the jurisdiction of the Works, Electricity anjd Reserves Committee, in a purely advisory capacity, in the same way r as the representatives of the master butchers and niilk yendors are associated with the Committees named have reported recommending the -terms anil conditions under which the appointment of such associate , members of fhe Committees shall be made; ,it. being understood, however, that the work of the associate members shall-be confined to the discussion of such niters , W specially affect the interests of the worker represented.” The resolution was supported by all of the 'Labour Councillors, but it was vigorously opposed ‘by the non-Labour Councillors, with .the exception of the Independent, <Dr Thacker, jjjjo division was called -for. The motion was carried on the voices.
