AIOTOR-BOAT R AGING. LONDON, June 10. 'The outboard motor-boat race from Dover to Calais and return yesterday was a fiasco and was abandoned after three hours. Many were -waterlogged
and had engine trouble and lost their way. Some ran out of petrol and drifted helplessly and one was afire. Forty-nine boats left Dover and it was expected hv the leaders to return under two hours But there was not a single boat in sight. Tugs, fast motor-cruis-ers, lifeboats and yachts put out from Dover for the rescue. After a deal of scouring in the Channel afternoon and night long, various competitors had distressing experiences. There were four women competitors. All were rescued.
