The Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club’s annual steeplechase meeting was held in fine Weather to-day before a fair ii.tteiidance of spectators. As the result of recent heavy rain, the track was holding. The tote handled £9557*, compared with £10,667 at Wanganui on September, 1927, when the previous meeting was held, tlie programme then consisting of eight events.
As the result of a fall during Hie Cur- event. Mr Conway, rider of Pikimai, suffered a broken collar bone, and was taken to the hospital for X-ray treatment. Results:— Hunters’ Hurdles.—(3) Pikimai 1, <f',) Just John 2, (2) Lively Eire 3. Won by five lengths; two lengths. Time 2.59.
(Hack Hurdles.—(l) Airtight 1, (4) Grand Lupin 2, (5) Gilgai 3. Won hv two and a half lengths; three-quart-ers f f a length. Time 2.58. Waverley Hack.—(4) Hopwood 1. (T Bione 2. (1) Broxt 3. Two lengths each way. Time 1.61. Egmont-Wnnganni Hunt Cim —3D Huianga Girl 1, (6) Waitaunalia 2, (7\ Baniukc 3. Won bv ten lengths; half a furlong: Time 5.31.
